Letters From The Bowes Brothers – Jan. 28, 1917 France

Dear Sister Evelyn,

How you was, little girl? Fred and I are well and expect so see Clifford soon. He isn’t very far away from us but I don’t know exactly where he is.

You surely done fine at Christmas, didn’t you?

I noticed what you said about Laura. You shouldn’t make such statements, little girl, as you are apt to make poor me blush.

I am lying on my stomach on top of my bunk with a candle for lighting purposes, so you will have to excuse all the mistakes also the writing. I hope you can read it anyway.

Say kiddie, you should enclose a note with Mother’s letters as I surely like to hear from you. I would write more often myself only paper is rather scarce at the moment.

Must close for now but will drop a line soon.

Your loving brother,

Jim
