British Expeditionary Force
Dear Mr. Bowes,
You will have heard of your sad loss long before you get this letter. Your son Pte. F.A. Bowes 291815 was brought here 28-2-17 very badly wounded and though everything possible was done for him, he passed away quite peacefully on 8-3-17.
He was unconscious the greater part of the time so he was spared pain.
He is buried here in the cemetery and his belongings will be sent you through the authorities.
With sympathy for your loss, believe me,
Yours Sincerely,
G.N. Raine
Sister-in-Charge
