Here’s a short item on pay parade.

Norm Gibson of Hove, Sussex, U.K., says he was at a holding unit in Aldershot where a multiple-copy acquittance roll had to be signed.

A Canadian newcomer signed so lightly that his signature didn’t register through all the sheets of carbon paper.

“Put your weight on it,” the sergeant shouted.

The soldier promptly wrote: “164 pounds.”
