“V” For Victory

Rusty Hegadoren of Sarnia, Ont., shares a lively photo of himself displaying the “V” for victory sign in August 1945.

Hegadoren served overseas as a tail gunner during the war. After returning from England he was posted at the Royal Canadian Air Force base, Moncton, N.B. While expecting to serve on the Pacific war front, the war ended. He still holds copies of the Moncton Daily Times from August 1945. Before moving to Sarnia, Hegadoren resided for many years in Marmora, Ont., where he belonged to the Legion.
