Joyce Walker of Maple Ridge, B.C., swears this is true and we, of course, don’t doubt her:

When my husband was overseas in barracks, he and Trooper X went off duty and headed for the canteen.

Trooper X said: “Aren’t we going to the absolution hut first?”

My husband replied: “I have nothing to confess.”

And they walked on, Trooper X looking a bit puzzled, to the ablution hut.
