Canadian merchant ship Bic Island is torpedoed and sunk by U-624 in the North Atlantic. All of her crew is lost as well as the survivors she had picked up from the ships Sourabaya and Gurney E Newlin. Bic Island had been an Italian ship before she was captured by the RCN trawler Bras d’Or on June 10, 1940.
