The Dispatch-Letters of War-Private George Adkins

An excerpt of the letter Private George Adkins of 49th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Force, sent to his mother during the June 2-13, 1916, Battle of Mount Sorrel. Adkins not only survived the carnage there—in total, 8,430 Canadians were killed, wounded or reported missing—but also the war, returning to Edmonton in March 1919.
