1. Mark The First World War Centenary At The Canadian War Museum
Starting this summer, the Canadian War Museum will have a series of special exhibitions dedicated to the 100-year anniversary of the First World War. Among the first of those exhibitions is Ordinary Canadians In Extraordinary Times, consisting of 14 wartime sculptures portraying ordinary Canadians touched by the extraordinary circumstances of the First World War, a number of which have not been exhibited since the war’s end.

2. Travel To The East Coast For A Military Extravaganza
One of Canada’s largest annual military events, The Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo is a week-long festival held every year in Halifax that features daily shows of military music and dancing, workshops and an immersive experience in military tradition for the entire family.

3. Relive The Battle Of Lundy’s Lane
Visitors will experience history during this once-in-a-lifetime event to commemorate the 200th anniversary of this significant War of 1812 battle. From starting points about 2.5 kilometres from the site of the battle, visitors will follow in the footsteps of the combatants, arriving at the battlefield at dusk to participate in a remembrance of one of the bloodiest battles of the war.

4. Travel To Wasaga Beach For An Epic Weekend
This year the Wasaga-under-Siege annual living history festival is commemorating the bicentennial of the Battle of Nottawasaga River (Aug. 13, 1814) and the sinking of the British schooner Nancy with an epic event at the Nancy Island Historic Site. Spectators are invited to watch as more than 300 re-enactors form a grand encampment to recreate the destruction and avenging of HMS Nancy.

5. March In Or Cheer On The Warriors’ Day Parade
Thousands of veterans and serving members of the Canadian Armed Forces will be marching in the 93rd Warriors’ Day Parade through the streets of Toronto to the Canadian National Exhibition. Admission to the CNE is complimentary for veterans and their families on the day.
