Mark Durieux of Calgary relays a story told by Dr. Paul Hearne of New York at a Calgary employment seminar for the physically disabled:
“I was in Albany where they had just completed a new hotel. It boasted in its literature that it was the most architecturally accessible hotel in the state of New York.
“Sure enough, upon my arrival, I got a porter to take my baggage to my room and I barely had my jacket off and the television turned on when there was a knock at the door. I turned to open the door when I was suddenly struck that the peep-hole in the door had been lowered so that I was able from my wheelchair to see the person on the other side. Brilliant, except that the person on the other side had not been lowered, too.”
