Humour Hunt

Irene Wert of Quinton, Sask., sends this funny-sad account of a visit to the United States:

“I was shopping with an American friend in Tucson, Ariz., on Remembrance Day, or Veterans’ Day as it is called in the U.S. I mentioned that in Canada banks, schools and stores all close on Nov. 11. She looked at me with great surprise and said: ‘Really? I think that’s just wonderful that your country would do that for our boys.’”
