Art Nelson of Toronto says that at one Canadian base during the war seemingly every issue of posted orders carried a reprimand from the commanding officer. It usually read: “It has come to the attention of the commanding officer that (and then followed an outline of the deplorable misdeed). This practice will cease forthwith.”

An unknown hero caused a halt in these admonitions when he posted a printed notice below the orders: “It has come to the attention of the commanding officer that too many things are coming to the attention of the commanding officer. This practice will cease forthwith”
