November 11 is here again and there is probably a cenotaph nearby where you can take time to think of those who gave their young lives for the freedom we enjoy today. No matter what part of the country you live in, take a few minutes to think of them and the veterans who are still with us today.

2 Viewing Life At The Legion
The Canadian War Museum still has its exhibit of 25 images by Toronto photographer Tobi Asmoucha celebrating life and camaraderie at branches of The Royal Canadian Legion (New Exhibit Focuses On Legion Life, January/February). The exhibit spans several generations that have found a home inside the Legion.

3 Follow The Footsteps Of The Missionaries
One hundred and fifty years ago, two men stood on top of what was to become Mission Hill in St. Albert, Alta., and dreamed of a Western Canada settled by French Canadians. Musée Héritage Museum looks at the ambitions, accomplishments and friendship of Bishop Alexandre-Antonin Tache and Father Albert Lacombe and their efforts to establish francophone communities.

4 Learn About The Navy On The West Coast
The CFB Esquimalt Naval and Military Museum follows the development of naval presence on the West Coast of Canada from its beginnings in 1848 when Esquimalt was first used as an anchorage. It became an important Royal Navy port until 1905 when Canada took on the responsibility for defending its coastline. Located at CFB Esquimalt, visitors are required to present photo identification such as a passport or driver’s license to enter the base.

5 Spend Christmas In The Barracks
The Citadel in Halifax lets you see how 19th century soldiers and their families would have spent Christmas in the barracks. There will be parlour games, choirs, a pantomime, parade, a schoolmaster’s magic lantern show and a soldier’s version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol.
