Humour Hunt

HHBanner

Stan Knight of Bobcaygeon, Ont., tells us:

Our corvette was alongside the jetty, getting things shipshape while waiting for the next convoy, and the shore-based officers, as usual, were upsetting our shore leave plans for a little cruising, a little boozing and even a little tattooing.

The shore staff decided our swimming ability should be tested in an indoor pool. The director of this project, a sub-lieutenant, noticed that Knocker White, though a good swimmer, was a little hesitant about going off the 20-foot diving board.

“Come on, Able Seaman White,” he shouted, “What would you do if you were 20 feet up the mast and the ship was sinking?”

“I’d wait for the ship to sink another 15 feet, sir.”
