Do you know that the Transition Assistance Program (TAP) is now called Canada Company’s Military Employment Transition (MET) program and is now available to all veterans? Last June, in partnership with the Department of National Defence, Canada Company officially launched its Military Employment Transition Program, a national initiative established to help Canadian Forces personnel and veterans find jobs after they have released from military service.

The program will build and strengthen relationships between Canadian employers and the Canadian military to help veterans enter the civilian workforce and address the unique challenges they often face.

Canada Company works with CF staff to engage prospective employers, providing them with an orientation to the CF, which highlights the benefits that military training and experience will bring to their workforce, and addresses misconceptions that may exist about military personnel.

There are currently more than 80 employers across the country participating in the program. The MET is looking to attract ongoing sponsorship through at least 300 certified Employer Partners over the next three years.

The program will include a secure web portal which will offer relevant information and resources for serving military members and veterans. The tools, now available to all veterans, include tips on how to create a skills inventory, how to search for jobs, how to prepare for interviews, and how to write effective resumes. Sample resumes provide examples of how military experience can translate into marketable skills, and can help members and veterans understand how best to present themselves appropriately to a civilian employer.

Canada Company is a charitable, non-partisan organization that serves to build the bridge between business and community leaders and the Canadian military. Its goal is to ensure that the men and women in the CF receive the widest support, care and recognition they deserve.
